We had two parties for our daughter, Michaela. The first was on her actual birthday, which is the 25th. This picture is from our small family party.
We discovered that she is not much of a chocolate fan at this point. She shuddered when she took her first bite of the cake, but she enjoyed the frosting.
This is my first decorating attempt. Things got too crazy for me to do it from scratch like I wanted to, but I borrowed a friends decorating equipment and made a simple butterfly cake from a box cake. It is a 6 x 3. I am a huge fan of the layer cake springform pan set we found at a garage sale this summer. Perfect size for the next few years. The butterflies are not of my making, but look great. The party theme was butterflies and flowers.
I have some friends who are gluten free. I am dabbling with it, but have not done a great job sticking to it. Anyway, this is the Gluten Free Goddess' Chocolate Truffle Cake. This is my second time making it and it is heavenly. If you have not ever made a flourless cake, give it a try. It is rich, moist, and oh so good!
Michaela really dug into the white cake. She had an iron grip on her piece.
I can't believe my baby girl is 1.
Clutching her piece of cake.
Baby curls on her birthday. So beautiful!
